I am an addict! I admit it!
I can just imagine your first thought when you read the title. You wonder if I’m addicted to cigarettes, alcohol, or drugs? Maybe you’re thinking I’m addicted to coffee. No it is none of those things but I have an addiction.
I am addicted to books. I love books. I have so many books, I’ll die before I read them all and I get more every day. I lost track of the number of books I own and along the way, I switched from physical books to e-books.
Every day, I check Amazon for books that are on sale. Just the other day, I found a ton of books offered for free by Simon and Schuster. Yes, I collected just about every cookbook they offered. My favorite type of books to buy are cookbooks and if I can get them for $3.99 or less, I’ll snatch it up. Next I look for gardening books, handcraft books, and books for renovating the house.
If I find a book in the fiction section that looks interesting I’ll buy it. I also love science fiction and fantasy, not standard mysteries such as the one taking place in the 1920’s written by Lee Strauss. I might see a book on astronomy, or science, or even the chemistry of cooking.
If the book is on sale and it looks interesting, I’ll buy it. I think I’ve acquired enough books that I could design and build a house, put in all the electrical, plumbing, and heating, build the furniture for the house out of 2 by 4’s, make my own cement counters for the kitchen, build all the cabinets for the kitchen, install all the flooring, and add in a ton of hidden storage.
In addition, I could create the edible landscaping, put in the drip irrigation, add in the garden, install walkways, build outdoor furniture and install a patio. I can have a great house and yard.
I also have all the books I need to start a successful business, start my own fivrr side hustle, brand it, use social media and instagram to create a business presences, and learn to do all this from home or from anywhere in the world. I have the books so I can make stuffed animals, dolls clothing, hats, etc that could be sold at the local craft or farmers market.
Maybe I should learn calligraphy so I could offer my services to people who want fancy posters and certificates for work. I think I even have books so I could become an events planner, wedding planner, or even start my own housekeeping business.
Furthermore, I have so many books on sewing, repurposing clothing, and historical costuming, I could make enough things to start a costume business. I also have a ton of books on writing, becoming the next million dollar author or start my own freelance copy writing service. I even have books for making soap, body lotions, and other personal goodies for a business.
I think I have enough books to start my own virtual library but I’d be missing a few sections because I’m not interested in pets, cars, or anything motorized. I know I don’t need all those books but I still buy them, just in case I need them.
I’m sure there are others out there with the same addiction. I suspect if you made it to the end, you have the same addiction and have enough books to start any business, build a house, and never get bored. Let me know what you think, I’d love to hear.
