Deliberate Part Time Worker.

I finally hit a point in my life, where I have a steady income I get every single month. It’s enough to pay my bills, rent, and my car but its not enough for much more than that. So I take chose to work part time to earn money for all the travel I like to do.

When I say part time, I’m not referring to working 15 or 20 hours each week. Instead, I take a long term three to five month assignment where I work full time hours and at the end of the contract, I have money to indulge my thirst to see the world.

I admit, I made a mistake last year when I let them extend the job for another year. I thought I’d be ok but it was too hard after spending a couple years only working part time. I discovered I missed being able to do what I want, when I want. If I want to stay in bed, I can but if I want to do stuff in the middle of the night I can. If I find a good sale, I can’t pop off at the drop of a hat.

In addition, I’ve been starting a side hustle aka business. The object with this business is to bring in enough income that I can travel as a digital nomad for a while. Yeah, its one of those dreams everyone has but I’m hoping I can make it come true.

It feels good after years of struggling, working two or three jobs, agreeing to work tons of overtime to get to this point. It is almost freeing to know I have these choices. It is nice to know I can work as long as I need to before I take off for adventure, then when I return, I find a job and stay busy for a few months.

I once heard someone say that you can have it all, just not at once. I honestly believe that is so true but it takes time to get to the point you want. Let me know what you think, I’d love to hear.
